My passion is capturing the emotion of a memory. I value authenticity over manufactured moments. I strive to capture true spontaneity — the belly laughs, the wiped away tear, the stolen glances. The moments that make you you. The memories that make this story yours. We don’t have to stage scenes to capture your story beautifully. My job is to make you comfortable in front of the camera so that we can capture the magic that is you.
Film is a magical medium. It captures our memories both as they were and how we dream to remember them. It has the nostalgic feeling that makes you long for moments past, while giving the ability of nearly reliving them. Film captures not only what happened, but also how it felt.
Film and digital photography are different mediums that have different strengths and appeal to different aesthetics. Think oil and watercolor paintings. Both are paintings. Both are legitimate artforms. Both hang in museums. The same holds true for film and digital photography. Film has lasted the test of time, and forces us to slow down in a world so focused on speeding up. Film creates a beautiful and intentional experience, not to mention stunning artwork for your walls.
Film photography and videography is timeless. The way film captures light and color is unmatched. In my opinion, film does the best job of replicating memories the way we picture them in our hearts and minds.

Meet Gabie
My passion has always been to make the world a more beautiful place for everyone.
I fell in love with photography in my high school darkroom, and have been shooting film ever since. After a decade-long career in progressive politics, I found myself wanting to spend more time behind the lens. Shifting my focus back to my first love, I launched Nowadays Film.
I hope to make the world brighter through capturing your memories through my lens. I only take on about 20 weddings a year to ensure I can give you everything you deserve leading up to, on, and after your wedding day. My number one priority is making sure we are making your dreams come true.
I am based in Austin, TX, but travel the world.

These photoshoots don’t take long, usually about two hours, but the photos last a lifetime. What’s more, the experience of slowing down to document this moment in time, where you live, who you love, is priceless.
